Our second annual Benefit Auction raised over $350 for the nonprofits listed below. Thanks to all the artists and collectors who participated!

Tibeta, by Mary Wiseman, in support of Animals Asia. Papergem's Tibetan inspired blank journal literally stands on its own! Hand-stitched pewter and coral beads base this 3 1/8 inch square, handmade, accordion journal neatly into its black, textured, double covers. Forty blank, ivory-colored, sturdy, smooth pages (front and back) stand ready to record artistic inspirations in all media: pencil, pen, paint and/or collage.

heartwithwings, by Fawne DeRosia, in support of Bosom Buddies of Georgia, Inc. "heartwithwings" is made out of foam, a wooden disc, mirror tiles, doll wings, and other random items. It's 6 1/2" x 5" x 3 1/2" and can be hung on the wall for display. Fawne has exhibited work in galleries around Georgia. She is currently a stay at home mother of one and maintains a site at momentofstars.com.

Print Club 2004 (6 month subscription), by Heather Champ, in support of Heifer International. The winner of the auction will receive 6 colour or b/w 5 x 7" limited edition prints over the course of 2004 and a unique pinhole polaroid on their birthday. Artist Heather Champ is reknowned for her experimental photography and innovative technique, which she showcases on hchamp.com

There's A Lot In Store For Us (I saw it foretold), by Kate Ward, in support of Cancer Research UK. This piece is based on the many predictions out there on how the world will end and was created by Kate Ward, currently a theatre/art student in the UK. Hand-coloured photobooth pictures, stitched paper, plastic. Dimensions: approx. 8 x 11 4/8" (29x20.5cm). Note: this piece is being offered through Ebay UK

Grafted, by Judith Zissman, in support of the San Francisco Coalition on Homelessness. From an ongoing series of encaustic on vellum, the three pieces that comprise Grafted are delicate 4.25" x 5.5" paintings that have the soft resilience and precise detail of skin.

The Fuzzy Bros., by Steve McCauley, in support of Adbusters Media Foundation. These 2 Handmade Sewn Monsters are each approximately 4 x 6 inches, and made from synthetic fur and felt. "Gus" and "Harry" are the latest creepy but cute creatures in Steve's art toy series. See more on her website at eponymousheroine.com.

She Loves Me, by Trace Meek, in support of Cancer Connection. This whimsical 15" x 21" oil painting is a recent creation from Trace Meek, who exhibits in museums and galleries near his home in Western Massachusetts. See more of his work at tracemeek.com

Face Jug, by Ben Truesdale, in support of the Electronic Frontier Foundation. This salt fired, cobalt-alkaline glazed stoneware face jug is a small and charming relative of last year's hottest auction item. Measuring 3.25" h X 2" d x 2" w, this quizzical face jug will ponder your activities as you glide thru your day. Fits nicely on computer monitors, desk tops, breakfast tables or dashboards.

Felted Bowl, by Charlene McBride, in support of Heifer International. This exquisite teal and red bowl is felted by hand with 100% merino wool and is embellished with embroidery, sequins and glass beads. It is approximately 2" in diameter and 1.5" tall.

Untitled, by Gwendolyn Kelly, in support of the Warm Up America Project. In the striking patterns of this untitled relief print, artist Gwendolyn Kelly sees "four curious spirit children stretching", and reports that others see angels flying. The print measures 7" by 18".
